Increasing her motivation to read at home is one just one of the ways Norma is now closing the academic achievement gap for her son, now a first grader in the Chelsea Public Schools. Before participating in our early literacy progam at the Early Learning Center in Chelsea,Norma didn’t read bedtime stories – any stories - with her then preschool-aged son. As a result of her experience with Raising A Reader MA at the Silber Early Learning Center in Chelsea, Norma now understands the important role reading with her son plays in healthy brain development, parent-child-bonding, and kindergarten readiness. And her son is doing great in school!
